Hiro Gallery (Ginza, Tokyo) and Bambinart Gallery (Higashi-Kanda, Tokyo) are pleased to announce the simultaneous presentation of a new solo exhibition by Caribbean-Canadian artist Curtis Talwst Santiago, held across both venues from Friday, March 28th to Saturday, April 26th, 2025.

Born in 1979 in Edmonton, Canada, to Trinidadian parents who had immigrated there, Santiago explores themes of history, memory, and personal identity, often engaging with the diaspora and the retelling of historical narratives. He pursues all emotions associated with human relationships, from the longing for intimacy to experiences of isolation.

Santiago has exhibited extensively in galleries participating in international art fairs such as Art Basel and Frieze. His works are included in the collections of institutions such as the Lenbachhaus (Germany), the National Gallery of Canada (Canada), the Kadist Foundation (USA), The Studio Museum in Harlem (USA), the Nevada Museum of Art (USA), and the Birmingham Museum of Art (USA). He is a member of The Drawing Center In New York's Board of Directors and currently bases his practice in Munich.

This exhibition, titled "Buttermilk Mood," marks Santiago's first solo show in Japan, featuring new paintings and miniature dioramas from his Infinity Series, housed in antique jewelry boxes.

A preview night and opening reception with the artist in attendance will be held at Hiro Gallery on Thursday, March 27th, from 18:00. We cordially invite you to attend.
