The Aomori Contemporary Art Centre is where people engaged in artistic activities gather from around the world, stay overnight, interact with residents and students, and engage in residency programs. Artists come to Aomori, led by chance or necessity, and this land/place becomes their destination. Since ancient times, living beings, including humans, have continued to live by moving, sometimes relying on the forces of nature.

This exhibition explores the theme of "current" and "undercurrent," representing the ever-changing flow of water, air, electricity, and other elements that move in a certain direction, as well as the unseen currents and hints beneath the surface or other flows. Works by artists from Japan and abroad, as well as local artists associated with Aomori, who engage with a certain place through their expressions, will be showcased. While the exhibiting artists remain the same for the first and second periods, the exhibition will change midway, creating two different exhibitions. This approach aims to incorporate the continuous changes of the "now" and the interventions into places not limited to a single occasion. The meeting and intersection of each expression will generate countless new flows and whirlpools. This is an experimental project that questions the current location.
