Collection Exhibition: The Travels of Fumiko Hori - A Life Etched in Sketches

Meito Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Fumiko Hori et al.
In 2019, Fumiko Hori passed away at the age of 100. Having realized the impermanence of life through the Great Kanto Earthquake, and overcoming numerous difficulties such as the harsh realities faced by women in society and her experiences during the war, she carved out her life. This exhibition unravels her life through the keyword "journey." It focuses on sketches from the Meito Art Museum's collection and honors her achievement of winning the 2nd Shoen Uemura Award in 1952 by attempting a parallel display with Shoen's works. Additionally, the exhibition includes works by Yuki Ogura, who influenced Hori, and Matazo Kayama, who was active during the same period in the Soga Exhibition, providing a multifaceted introduction to Hori's art.

Phase I: June 25 (Tue) – August 4 (Sun)
Phase II: August 23 (Fri) – September 29 (Sun)
*All works will be replaced between the two phases.
