Chie Orihara
We are pleased to announce Chie Orihara’s solo exhibition “Feeling Truly Alive” at Soco1010.
Orihara’s practice explores the nature of presence—both human and material—through works that interweave bodily perception with the inherent qualities of the materials she engages. In this exhibition, she will present a restructured installation of “Breathing Existence”, a work currently exhibited at the newly opened Mi Cang Art Center in Hangzhou, China. Reimagined for the unique space of Soco1010, a former ultra-low temperature freezer room, the installation features a video piece in which a heart-shaped charcoal object gently burns in sync with the rhythm of breathing. This work represents the culmination of Orihara’s material research on charcoal, which she has pursued since 2019. The exhibition also includes new sculptural objects and drawings.
