Body and Spirituality

Rose Garden
Finished

Artists

Shu Isaka, Cecilia Corzo, Hypersonic Effect Unit “Tenjiku”, Kenta Masukawa
The exhibition, with the theme of “body and spirituality,” will approach new forms of expression by fusing unique genres of art such as ceramics, video art, Gagaku (Japanese Imperial Court Music), and contemporary dance.

“Body” and “spirit” are deeply connected to human life but are so closely intertwined that it is difficult to always pay attention to them in everyday lives.
Therefore, with commission and collaborative works, this exhibition will explore the harmony/division of different art fields and present installation works to contemplate these two important factors.

Ceramic artist Cecilia Corzo and artist Isaka Shu will exhibit works incorporating gagaku, a highly spiritual form of music, in their respective expressions. The gradation between “visible/material” and “invisible/immaterial” will be explored in a multifaceted and multi-layered way.

Contemporary dancer Masukawa Kenta and Gagaku unit “Tenjiku” will be invited to one-day events during the exhibition period to perform in the gallery space. Witnessing this live performance will induct a multifaceted dimension to the theme of the exhibition.
The vessels on display will also be available for purchase. By incorporating them into the daily lives of purchasers, we aim to transcend the boundaries between “art” and “everyday life.”
