Artists

"Gusha Gusha" and "Kusha Kusha" are the bags of Im Men which are presented as finished forms, their material has a unique quality that allows it to change into many different shapes, adding an element of illusion to the multifaceted object. This exhibition, directed by a designer Hiroto Yoshizoe, aims to communicate how intuitively pleasing the material is to handle, the fundamental aesthetics behind it, and the ambition to achieve something inherent that goes beyond functionality and form. In addition to Yoshizoe, the exhibit brings together leaders from a wide cross-section of artistic disciplines, including artist Riko Kinoshita, product designer Hajime Suzuki, artist Emiri Nakada, and ikebana artist Toru Watarai.

Each of these creators worked with "Gusha Gusha" and "Kusha Kusha" items; gripping, smashing, twisting, and wadding the bags into a series of works that communicate their wild, formless nature -ambiguous outlines and definitions even while maintaining a basic, intuitive shape. Visitors can learn about the artistic techniques and shapes they create and can pick up the bags for themselves, creating their forms and stories beyond the exhibit.
