The exhibition, which was originally scheduled to be held in the spring of 2020 but was canceled due to COVID-19, will be held again after a lapse of two and a half years.
One of the pillars of the Kosugi Ho-an Memorial Nikko Art Museum's collection is paintings produced in the 1990s and 2000s. Some paintings from this period transcend the framework of "Japanese" or "Western" painting or even the act of “painting.
This exhibition presents the works of seven leading contemporary painters based on the five keywords of "drawing lines," "carving space," "layering," "dripping," and "waiting," to explore the secrets of their production and the diversity of the act of "painting.
