Kameido Art Center is pleased to announce begas' first solo exhibition, “” organized by “Mi-Fi Drawing Laboratory” led by artist Kenichiro Mizuno.
begas' painting activities began with his participation in an online pastel painting workshop by artist Kyohei Sakaguchi, which was held during the the COVID-19 pandemic . He also participated in Sakaguchi's “Tenkaichi Pastel Budokai” art event and reaffirmed the joy and potential of painting. He has since gradually developed his own style based on the inspiration he received from “Mi-Fi Drawing Laboratory.
begas's works pursue chance and unconscious forms through his unique method of “tracing wrinkles,” creating a unique expression in which figuration and abstraction intersect. In this drawing style, the artist begins to draw shapes that emerge by tracing wrinkles and accidental lines on paper, creating lines and shapes that are unintended by the artist as he draws according to images that come to him unconsciously rather than by “thinking. Applying this technique and using a variety of painting materials, he pursues a pictorial expression that is created by delving deeply into the accidental phenomena that appear on the support.
The works in this exhibition offer a glimpse into the evolution of his painting style through his “unconscious approach. Please come and experience his free and unique world of expression at the exhibition venue.
