Fuji Gallery Shinjuku, located on the basement floor of the Hilton Tokyo in Nishi-Shinjuku, will host (Ms.) Ayumi Aoki’s solo exhibition entitled “Transient Moments” from Saturday 5th October until Sunday 27th October 2024.
Ayumi Aoki (1982–) is an artist who captures ephemeral and ever-changing elements, such as the subtle glints on the water's surface and the varying atmospheres of different seasons, selecting these fleeting moments from her daily memories. She layers her collage materials to depict these as landscapes. After studying classical mural techniques at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Aoki masterfully incorporates those techniques into her work, creating beautiful and delicate pieces with a fresh, transparent quality. Her multi-layered compositions are expressed through collages, acrylics, watercolors, pencils, and crayons. Aoki’s most iconic works are her "Memories of the Waterside" series, in which she layers shades of blue to depict the gentle ripples on the water’s surface. In this exhibition, she will also present works predominantly in warm tones that evoke the essence of autumn. The featured pieces richly capture the changing colors of the trees and the subtle shifts in the atmosphere as the seasons progress.
