Asia Collection: Hands Reweaving the Future

Fukuoka Asian Art Museum
Starts 4/24
Our collection exhibition for this spring features about 50 pieces of cutting-edge contemporary art that incorporate lived experiences and cultures of Asia. Fascinating materials such as fabric, thread, embroidery, rattan craft, and papercut combined with the extraordinary technique of hands draw our attention, especially when they transform into the art of sophisticated design and form. The show spotlights the power of handcraft, followed by a room of shimmering light and shadow, as well as an imaginary forest of meditation. Through exploration of cultural roots and life, it attempts to find some clues to thrive in our future in this bewildering world.
