All Things Nara Exhibition - The Extraordinary Buddhist Art Collection of the Nara National Museum

Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished
The Nara National Museum was established in 1895 and has been affectionately known as "Nara-haku," focusing particularly on the preservation and exhibition of Buddhist art transmitted to the ancient capital of Nara's temples and shrines.

In 2021, the museum hosted the exhibition "All Things Nara - Supreme Buddhist Art Collection," which traced 1,400 years of Japanese Buddhist art history through a selection of its finest collection pieces. The exhibition aimed to convey the allure of its Buddhist art collection comprehensively, often perceived as complex and somewhat inaccessible, through accessible explanations and visitor-friendly displays, captivating a wide audience.

This exhibition follows the essence of "All Things Nara," emphasizing the deeply devout cultural atmosphere towards Buddhism in the Hokuriku region, Ishikawa Prefecture. It showcases over 200 items from the Nara National Museum's collection of Buddhist art, including 8 National Treasures and 93 Important Cultural Properties, presenting a comprehensive introduction to "all things Nara."
