Alfons Mucha
Alfons Mucha (1860-1939) is a representative painter of "Art Nouveau," an artistic style that flourished in Europe from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Mucha's elegant female figures painted with botanical patterns are known as the "Mucha Style," and still attract many people today.

The Czech-born Mucha first became famous in Paris at the end of the 19th century, when a 34-year-old Mucha's poster advertising the play "Gismonda" by the stage actress Sarah Bernhardt became very popular, and he subsequently left a brilliant mark as a painter and designer. After returning to the Czech Republic at the age of 50, Mucha's work is imbued with his desire for peace in his homeland and the pride of the Slavic people.

This exhibition will present approximately 500 works from the collection of Hisayuki Ogata, a world-renowned collector of Mucha's works, including posters, decorative panels, design books, postcards, stamps, banknotes, and product packaging, providing a close-up look at the artist's life.
