Artists

Aiko Miyanaga
Miyanaga Aiko is an artist who expresses "a world that continues to exist despite change" with objects made of everyday items in the form of naphthalene and installations using salt, leaf veins, and the piercing sound of pottery.

She is the great-granddaughter of Miyanaga Tozan I, a Kyoto-yaki ceramic artist who established the Miyanaga Tozan Kiln. In recent years, she has returned to her birthplace in Kyoto, where she creates artworks that connect the past with the present by pouring glass into old molds used for pottery making that remain in her family's ceramic studio.

This exhibition will showcase her new work "Valley of the Sleeping Sea - Cat," as well as glass works inspired by the motif of "key" associated with Yoshifusa Kagizen and the wooden confectionery molds in Kagizen's collection.
