The Bologna Children's Book Fair, held annually in Italy, features the world's largest picture book illustration competition. It judges sets of 5 illustrations created for children's books, providing a significant opportunity for illustrators, regardless of their publishing experience. This year's competition received 4,345 entries from 91 countries, with 79 artists from 27 countries being selected. The accompanying Bologna Illustrators Exhibition, showcasing this diverse range of selected works, was first introduced to Japan in 1978 and is now celebrating its 26th year.
