Sho Tanaka
Sho Tanaka has been traveling around the world examining the familiar presence of wood and the meaning and function of woodblock prints in relation to human life in the past, present, and future. His journey in pursuit of “wood” has led him to a journey of water. In this solo exhibition, he will present "Lake Ebisu," a body of water in which he has "released" fish he has encountered on his journey. The fish are printed on Japanese paper and displayed. These works are filled a sense of motion unique to woodblock prints that invite the viewer to actively engage with them.
