Nobuko Nakano, Yasuaki Kagii
Neuro-scientist Nobuko Nakano focuses her research and writing on brain science and psychology. She has received high acclaim for her analysis of human and social phenomena, and for her messages that speak to people living in today's society in easy-to-understand language based on scientific findings that can help them resolve their own conflicts and problems. In addition to her activities, she has visited many art exhibitions and art projects in Japan and abroad and is studying art at the graduate school of Tokyo University of the Arts. This exhibition is part of Nakano's new activities to express the world of brain science, which she has been conveying through words, using video, photography, and space.

In the exhibition “Braindive," Nobuko Nakano's brain activity data is visualized. It is a visual installation that allows visitors to experience brain activity as if they were diving under the sea, the home of human beings and a world still shrouded in a veil. Working with underwater photographer Yasuaki Kagii, the viewpoints, and colors captured in the rhythm of nature appear as a spatial experience generated by brain activity data. In a space composed of visuals generated from actual measured values and underwater photographs and images of rich ecosystems and dynamic environments, visitors will experience the emotions, thoughts, and physical conditions of others as phenomena in the brain that cannot be measured by words or superficial behavior alone.

*This exhibition is available by advance reservation only. Please check the official website for details.
