Sachiko Chiba
Chiba was born in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in 1977 and graduated from Iwate University Graduate School of Education in 2009 with a major in Art Education. Based in Morioka City, he produces oil paintings with motifs of nature and familiar landscapes, and actively exhibits his works in solo and group shows.

Even the same scenery can give different impressions and feelings to different viewers, or even to the same person, depending on his or her age and emotions at the time. For example, a seascape. Sometimes it is refreshing, and other times it may seem sad or wretched. These impressions and subtle inner feelings, which cannot be captured in a photograph, are revealed only when expressed in pictures, words, and sounds. Through these expressions, others can imagine the thoughts and impressions of the creator.

This exhibition will feature approximately 25 of Chiba's oil paintings, including new works depicting the landscape of Kesennuma. What impressions did Chiba have of the present-day Kesennuma and what feelings did he express in his paintings?
