Exhibiting the works of Kyokichi Tanaka 130 years after his birth. Born in Wakayama City in 1892, Tanaka entered the Tokyo Fine Arts School (now Tokyo University of the Arts) and began his career in art, interacting with artists such as Koshiro Onchi and Yumeji Takehisa. He demonstrated talent in his unique pen drawings and other works, but developed tuberculosis and passed away at the age of 23 in 1915. His work posthumously included in illustrations for Sakutaro Hagiwara's poetry collection "Tsuki no Howl" (Howl at the Moon) still draws attention today. The museum's collection contains approximately 1,000 works by Tanaka, including important pieces from his early to late years, as well as sketches, letters, poetry manuscripts, and other items. Approximately 80 works tracing Tanaka's creative process and the development of his imagery are introduced.
