A Marriage of Curiosity: The Various Artifacts of the Okura Shukokan Museum of Fine Arts

Okura Shukokan Museum of Fine Arts
Finished
The Okura Shukokan is the oldest existing private art museum and the first private art museum with a foundation in Japan.

This exhibition features swords and Chinese terracotta ceramics related to the Okura Zaibatsu, as well as Chinese textiles, Thai art, and other objects from the Okura Collection, which "collects what others cannot collect in large quantities and in large measure."

This year, 2022, marks the 120th anniversary of the opening of the Okura Museum of Art and the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Okura Shukokan Foundation. This exhibition traces the history of art collection from the Meiji to Showa periods through work that is unique to the Okura Shukokan.
