Toshio Suzuki
Toshio Suzuki, a producer at Studio Ghibli, has produced many of the world's leading animated films with Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. In this exhibition, Suzuki, who grew up in post-war Nagoya and has lived through the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, will focus on the books he has read and their historical background. Through the comics and novels he has read since his childhood, and the historical, non-fiction, and criticism books Suzuki has continued to read with great curiosity since his youth and after entering the workforce, what kind of influence did Suzuki receive from these works and authors, and how did he connect them to his own way of thinking?
Through about 10,000 books and films, this exhibition will explore how Suzuki dealt with the creatives and helped to establish Studio Ghibli films as an editor and producer.
