The Whereabouts of the Real— Contemporary Artists: To Live, To Depict

Ashikaga Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Masaburo Matsumoto, Yuichi Takahashi, Akira Mizuno, Haruo Mitsuta, Nami Yokoyama et al.
The exhibition will present Masaburo Matsumoto's animated puppets, Yuichi Takahashi's oil paintings and the metalworks from Meiji period in the introductory part, and will examine the realism seen in the works of the contemporary artists. Realism in Japanese art can not be viewed only through the prism of western art, and we will try to examine and think about what it is like and how it was developed.
