Since 1977, The National Museum of Art, Osaka has been collecting, preserving, and exhibiting contemporary art from Japan and abroad. Once every four years, the museum lends its collection to the other venues. This year it will tour Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum and Oita Prefectural Art Museum. The exhibition introduces development in contemporary art over the past 100 years from the beginning of abstract art such as Kandinsky to diverse expression in the post-2000 era. I hope you will encounter the enchanting world of contemporary art which will stimulate you and give you a sense of wonder.
