Taro Okamoto
"Night: Transparent Chaos" is the title of a chapter in Okamoto's book "My History of World Art: The Spell of Beauty. " At first glance, the combination of "Taro Okamoto" and "night" may seem surprising. Okamoto was sometimes called "the man of the sun" because of his work "Tower of the Sun" and his intense use of primary colors, but the relationship between Okamoto and night is deeper than you might think.

"When the sun is shining but I turn my head away from the splendor of the sun, I see the vastness of night.” As stated, when Okamoto looked at the sun, his gaze was also directed at the night. In addition to "Night," one of Okamoto's most famous works, the "Night Club," an art group he formed in 1948, is an essential part of the story of Okamoto. This exhibition will introduce a new aspect of Okamoto's works by reading them through the keyword “night."
