Shoji Ueda "His Vision in Monochrome"

Shoji Ueda Museum of Photography
Finished

Artists

Shoji Ueda
When Shoji Ueda started photography in the 1930s, it was the era of black and white photography. After the war, color photography technology became widely popular in Japan, and the range of photographic expression and the quality and quantity of information expanded dramatically. However, many photographers remained committed to black-and-white photographic expression. Shoji Ueda is one of them.
This exhibition will feature works Ueda's pre-war works and representative works from the 1950s, all with a strong sense of light and shadow, and light and dark. In a time when digital images dominate our daily lives, take this opportunity to rediscover the simple yet profound appeal of black-and-white photography.
