Satoshi Kako
Picture book author Satoshi Kako, who has created numerous picture books such as "Dorobo Gakko" and "Tadpole 101-chan" as well as the "Daruma-chan" series and "Karasu no Panya-san," have fascinated even adults with their learning, creativity, and novelty hidden within their enjoyment. She left behind more than 600 books until her death in 2018 at the age of 92, and her masterpieces are still being read by generations to come.

This exhibition brings together a collection of her representative works from her early years to her later years, as well as other valuable works and materials, including oil paintings she made as a young woman, picture story shows from her time in the "Settlement Activities," a type of postwar volunteer movement that was also the starting point for her creative work, and original drawings of picture books that have never been shown to the public before. The exhibition will unravel the life and works of Satoshi Kako, not only as a picture book author but also as a person who wanted to leave behind and convey to the future through her picture books.
