Hiroshi Abe
Hiroshi Abe is a picture book artist with a unique career, having spent 25 years as a zookeeper at the Asahiyama Zoo. His experience working with and looking after animals is reflected in his picture books.
In recent years, he has traveled to Africa and the Arctic wilderness and continues to publish stories of animal life, including works based on the nature and culture of Hokkaido, where he was born and raised. This exhibition traced Abe's career as an artist and featured his original picture books.
