Ishigami Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Kozo Nishino
The outdoor area of the Ishigami no Oka Art Museum underwent a major renovation and was reopened as the "Flower and Art Forest" in September 2020. In addition to the stone sculptures created during the "Iwate International Stone Sculpture Symposium (held from 1973 to 2003)," which was the driving force behind the opening of the museum, the renovation was planned to include a new collection of work by leading Japanese sculptors that are suited to the nature and space of the area. Seven works of art and two pieces of purpose-designed playground equipment were installed, including two kinetic works by Kozo Nishino.

The works installed in the Kaze-no Hiroba (Wind Square) and Sora-no Hiroba (Sky Square) at the "Forest of Flowers and Art" exhibit a gentle flapping of wings as the wind blows. The different movements of the work from time to time visually show the nature of the four seasons and the environment of Ishigami-no-Oka. This exhibition will present new work by Kozo Nishino in the museum's special gallery.
