Tokyo University of the Arts has been collecting artworks and materials for 135 years since the establishment of its predecessor, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. The collection covers a wide range of artworks from antiquities to current student artworks. The museum holds an exhibition of the Geidai Collection every year as an opportunity to widely display this diverse collection.
The 2022 Geidai Collection, titled "Exploring Masterpieces in Spring," will focus on selected masterpieces from the museum's collection of approximately 30,000 items. In addition, this year's highlights will include a special exhibition that recalls the art of the Tenpyo period.
