Toshinobu Onosato
This year marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Toshinobu Onosato (1912-1986), a pioneer of abstract painting who continued to work in the Kiryu region. Onosato, who began his career in the times before World War II, questioned what painting is and continually explored its possibilities. He established his own unique style of painting and was highly acclaimed internationally. This exhibition will be the first Onosato Toshinobu exhibition in Kiryu in 10 years. By bringing together works and materials from the Kiryu city, this exhibition will provide an opportunity to rediscover the appeal of Toshinobu Onosato's work.
