Taro Photos Mandala: Takashi Homma Selects Works by Taro Okamoto

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Taro Okamoro, Takashi Homma
Acclaimed contemporary photographer Takashi Homma revisits “Taro Photos Mandala,” a 2011 collection of photographic work from artist Taro Okamoto, who toured Japan on magazine assignments documenting discoveries he made. Homma, in contrast, is know for his work placing a unique detachment between himself and his photographic subjects. By selecting images Okamoto shot of subjects only loosely related to his assignments, such as signs, buildings, and women he encountered on his travels, Homma highlights Okamoto’s world through “unremarkable scenes.” Never-before-published images and shots featuring Okamoto himself offer fresh ways of seeing Okamoto’s universe.
