Artists

Samiro Yunoki
Samiro Yunoki (1922-) is a dye artist and designer. His creative activities, which have spanned over 70 years and continue to this day, include works in which he creates bold patterns on cloth using stencil dyeing. He also produces prints, paintings, sculptures, and picture books. In recent years, he has collaborated with the interior design shop Idée and Ace Hotel in Kyoto, attracting attention from multiple generations.

The theme of Yunoki's exhibition at Play! Museum is "life and living." The dynamic space presents some 80 original drawings from the delightful picture books the artist has been working on since the 1990s, as well as around 20 dolls he has crafted from paper mache and cloth, plus around 50 of his large, colorful textiles.
