Osmosis Fest took place in Taiwan (Taipei and Kaohsiung) in August, 2016, inviting eight curators from Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Shanghai, Spain and Taiwan. During the festival, they organized screenings, live performances, and symposia joined by artists from each country.
Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyo was given an opportunity to present works of Japanese artists based in Tokyo, and their art performances, screenings and talks had great success. This time, IAFT16/17 is selecting works from the Osmosis Fest and showing them in Tokyo on Nov. 12th and Nov. 25th at Uplink, Shibuya.
On the second day the Singaporean artist unit Intermission will use drones, gadgets and moving images to present audio-visual performances making us re-consider the relationship between the body and technology. After their performance and the screening program “IAFT16/17 Meets Osmosis Fest Part 2,” Osmosis curator Wen-Chi Wang and artists will speak about their works. Finally, Takahiko Imura will show his legendary performance “Project Yourself/Register Yourself,” presented for the first time at Academy of Arts, Berlin in 1973. This will be a reenactment of controversial event/happening.
