MOA Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Korin Ogata
Observing the 300th anniversary of the death of Korin Ogata, a master of the Rimpa school of art, this exhibition simultaneously presents two of Ogata’s masterpieces, the National Treasure folding screens “Kakitsubata-zu” (Irises) and “Kohakubai-zu” (Red and White Plum Blossoms). In addition to works displayed at exhibitions marking the 100th and 200th anniversaries of Ogata’s death, this exhibition traces his legacy with works by later artists he influenced, from Meiji and Showa-era painters such as Shunso Hishida, Kanzan Shimomura, and Matazo Kayama, through contemporary artists including Takashi Murakami, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Reiji Hiramatsu, and the Living National Treasure Kazumi Murose.
