Artists

Kuniyoshi Utagawa
Kuniyoshi Utagawa was a late Edo period ukiyo-e artist who was born in Nihonbashi. His works are known for their innovative designs and bizarre, imaginative themes and settings. This exhibition commemorates the 150th anniversary of Kuniyoshi's passing with a showcase of some 420 works including previously unexhibited pieces – the largest ever retrospective of the artist. This is a rare opportunity for viewers to become acquainted with one of ukiyo-e's most celebrated practitioners.
