"Jeu de Paume André Kertész" Exhibition

Musée d'Art Mercian Karuizawa
Finished

Artists

André Kertész
André Kertész (1894-1985) was one of the foremost Modernist photographers of the 20th century, ranking along with Brassai and Henri Cartier-Bresson in terms of influence. His deft compositions, bird's eye perspectives, clearly defined straight and curved lines and use of high-contrast chiaroscuro continue to impress and startle even today.

This exhibition, held with the generous support of the architectural and cultural foundation Mediatheque and curated by the Jeu de Paume National Gallery, showcases some 189 works developed from negatives belonging to the French government that trace the arc of Kertész's career.
