Akarimichi

Female kanzashi (hairpin) artist creates a normal room within a container, decorating it with small and large candles. She uses the container in a vertical way together with the desk at which she creates her summer hairpins in order to recreate the landscape in which the candles were first used. The decorations and accessories will be changed once a week. Video footage of the lighted candles will also be screened on a laptop computer.

Gennai (in front of the container)

Recreation of the night landscape on the way home from a fireworks display. The container is used horizontally, with the windows covered by photo stills (of models in outdoor settings with Gennai's lighting fixtures). Large and small Gennai lights - soft, firefly-like glowing fixtures - will illuminate the interior of the container, which also features torsos wrapped in women's yukata. The entrance has been deliberately narrowed - visitors can only take a single step inside - so as to make the lighting effect more dramatic. In addition, the torsos will be made up to look like men from the second half of July onward, and the colors of the lights will be made more vivid, reflecting the diverse colors of summer.
