Astrid Almkhlaafy
We are having an exhibition this coming weekend by Astrid Almkhlaafy. Astrid holds a BA in classical and near eastern archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and an MFA in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design. She previously lived in Tokyo for over a decade - designing, teaching typography at Tama Art University, throwing costume parties and chasing matsuris.
She has been invited to present her work, stage experiences, and lead workshops in London, Tokyo, Taiwan, and the USA. She currently resides in Singapore and is working on two grants that have taken her to China, Cambodia, and Borobudur to stage experiences in the last year. Her current work is gravitating towards the creation of rituals for communication. She collaborates on all projects with video artist Kal Almkhlaafy.
