Tamara Muller
Solo exhibition by promising young Dutch artist Tamara Muller consisting of 10 paintings (oil acrylic on canvas) and video installation. This is her first solo show in Japan.
The most remarkable feature of Tamara’s work is its delicate and destabilizing balance between frailty and power, reality and fantasy, humor and horror. Some of the girls that inhabit Tamara's paintings look sweet-tempered and pure, while others are vulgarly seductive or violent. After the "otaku" culture phenomenon, Japan's notion of the "girly" (Japlish word meaning girlish) is considered the next artistic concept coming from Japan. Tamara Muller's works seem to be somewhat "girly", but actually derive from a "feminine" style from Europe, which is different from the Japanese "girly" style.
