In the early morning of March 10th, 1945, eastern Tokyo was heavily bombed by the US air force. More than 100,000 people were killed that morning, with most of victims being elderly, women, and children.
Not many buildings survived the bombs- one of the very few exceptions is the old storage house in which Gallery ef is now situated - it has remained standing in Asakusa ever since then.
After that, Japan has been fortunate to have nothing to fall on it from the sky, except rain. However, throughout the world there are civilians suffering bombs dropping on them every day. "Tokyo Bombing" tells us this story, a story we should share with the world. Dancer Ikko Suzuki will collaborate with the voices of survivors collected and edited by Kirara Kawachi at Gallery ef on March 10th. It will be a night to share the moment that happened 62 years ago.
