150 Years of Everyone's Elementary School

Matsue History Museum
Finished
In 1872, the national school system was introduced to establish a modern school system. The first elementary school in Matsue opened on April 20 of the following year. It was Zoka Elementary School, located in Dokouji Temple in Zoka Town. Since then, schools have been opened in each town, and the system has been repeatedly modified, integrated, and separated up to the present day. This exhibition looks back on the 150-year history of elementary schools in Matsue through educational materials and photographs of schools and children in each era.
