Artists

Yumeji Takehisa
During the Taisho era, the artist Yumeji Takehisa, renowned for his bijin-ga (beautiful women paintings), also designed everyday items such as postcards, chiyogami (decorative paper), envelopes, and kimono collars, earning immense popularity among young girls of the time. Even today, Takehisa's work continues to captivate people, as seen in the release of greeting stamps featuring his floral designs in 2022.

The year 2024 marks the 140th anniversary of Takehisa's birth and the 90th anniversary of his passing. To commemorate this, an exhibition showcasing stamps themed around Takehisa's work, as well as postcards, magazine covers, and sheet music illustrations from that era, will be held, highlighting Yumeji Takehisa's allure as an art director.
