Artists

Kiyoshi Yamashita
The exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of painter Kiyoshi Yamashita's birth in 2022. Born in Tokyo's Asakusa, Yamashita developed a unique collage technique called "hari-e" and gained recognition for meticulous artworks depicting landscapes from travels across Japan. The exhibition showcases approximately 190 pieces, including Yamashita's renowned work 'Nagaoka Fireworks,' alongside early pencil drawings, oil paintings, watercolors, pen drawings, and ceramics. It offers a fresh perspective on Yamashita's artistic journey beyond popular images from TV and movies.
