Gallery 21 opened in September, 1982 and was renamed “Gallery 21+Yo” in 1988. The gallery was launched as a rental gallery that also holds curated exhibitions. It has handed modern art since having a three person exhibition of Natsuyuki Nakanishi, Kouji Enokura and Noboru Takayama in 1983, and in 1990 participated in the establishment of the Tokyo Modern Art Gallery Council. Gallery 21+Yo aims to foster the promotion of modern art and organizes a large number of exhibitions that cultivate young artists.
