Community centre in The Kanto: others area

The ARCUS Project is an artist-in-residence program organized by the Ibaraki Prefectural Government that was launched in 1995 with a focus on nurturing young and mid-career visual artists and on fostering grounds for international exchange in the arts as well as in the local community. To date, 57 artists from 21 countries/region have been invited to participate and engage in activities of their creative work, research, and cultural exchange programs. This year, which marks the 12th year since the inauguration of ARCUS Project, 5 artists from 5 respective countries/region (USA, Taiwan, Finland, Thailand, and Japan) will develop their artistic activities based at ARCUS Studio located in Moriya City, Ibaraki. The Artist-in-Residence Program, which focuses on the development of the artists, is complemented by ARCUS Cafe Program, which focuses on promoting exchanges and interactions between artists and the community through workshops and lectures.
