BankArt Studio NYK
Other in The Yokohama, Kanagawa area
BankART 1929 is a programme of cultural, artistic and creative experimentation held in a historical building and supported by Yokohama City. The name “BankART” is in itself a reference to the fact that the two buildings which it uses were formerly banks. Both buildings, one formerly used by the Dai-Ichi Bank and one formerly used by Fuji Bank, were built in 1929. This year, which was the year when the Great Depression began, was also when New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) was founded, so it seemed appropriate to use it as a commemoration of art.
