"Koedalien" is a remix of "Koeda chan", a classic Japanese character since 1977. After many years of success, "Koeda chan" ended her long career in 1993. However, in 2004, after great anticipation, the Koeda chan character was revived! Her sweetness has captured not only the original fans but also new generations as well. "Koedalien" is the new "Koeda chan " for adults to remind them of their childhood. The character design is by Noriya Takeyama who is also known for creating "Pooly's" .

The Junie Moon limited 3 color set "Koedalien" will be available soon!

at Newspark - The Japan Newspaper Museum (Yokohama, Kanagawa area)
(2008-06-28 - 2008-09-13)

Exhibition of about 80 single-frame manga by 32 prominent manga artists and illustrators on the theme of "turning points" in relation to people, the environment and the Earth. In the face of worsening global environmental conditions and a diminishing sense of human compassion, many now believe a dramatic change is now absolutely essential. With these works, the artists convey the message that a "return to the future" is possible.
at Yayoi Museum (Ueno area)
(2008-07-04 - 2008-09-28)

The Yayoi Museum houses a lot of shojo-ga (illustrations depicting girls), also known as lyric illustration, by various artists including Kasho Takabatake, Koji Fukiya, Masao Kato and Junichi Nakahara. Shojo-ga, which served as illustrations for girls' magazines during the Taisho and the early Showa periods, held a special allure for young women of the time, and were even worshipped as paragons of beauty, with an intensity usually reserved for religious icons like the Virgin Mary.
With their large, teary eyes and lovely petal-like lips, these girls look fragile and dainty, at times glamorous. They continue to evoke a special glamor for stylish young women today.
This exhibition introduces the appeal of these shojo-ga, a genre that began to flourish with the work of Yumeji Takehisa.
The exhibition also attempts to analyze each work in terms of iconography, and in doing so, sheds light on these works by examining in parallel the social and cultural context of the time.

From illustrations for magazines and picture books to ones for children's literature, a wide variety of Takehisa's work faithfully captures children's life and psychology, richly portraying childhood that everybody once experienced.
This exhibition features over 250 works by Takehisa, centering on the depictions of children and ones created for children's literature.

Full of surprises and fun, these books feature movements that delight and charm readers of all ages. Compared to a typical picture book that has been printed on flat pages, pop-up books require taking special steps to be created. How pop-up books are created demonstrates each of the processes involved, from the initial structural drawing of a book to cutting out its figures and finally putting the whole thing together. Follow the creation of Angel Smile, published by Shufunotomo, to learn all the tricks behind how a pop-up book is made, in this informative exhibit that is fun for the entire family.
