While Kohei Asakura has been working mainly on canvas, this 2nd exhibition centers around his silkscreen prints colorfully depicting nature, animals and the earth that embrace them.
"This exhibition's title 'hasshagenia', meaning eternal gift, is language used by native peoples of Alaska. By employing 'tree', an element existing in the cycle of nature, as basic motif of my work, messages carried within the work become something eternal just as a tree returning to the soil," says Asakura.
With Asakura's uniquely soft employment of media, magical composition and balanced usage of colors, the dignity of his rather realistic subject matters taken from the contemporary world, where production and consumption seems to continue eternally, will speak to viewers' minds at an unconscious level.
