Fukuda draws everything with his fingers, using acrylic and other media. While his work looks two-dimensional at first glance, it actually has a three-dimensional quality, where his own finger strokes and motifs depicted through the use of particular gradations and forms coexist with each other.
Yoshida expresses various contemporary issues and materials through her work, rendered in isometric composition, giving a sense of relief and amusement to viewers.
While these two artists have completely different modes of expression and ideas, what their works share in common is that they are not "paintings" but rather "planar" pieces.
By introducing anew these artists as "New Painters", this exhibition aims not only to present the brilliance of each work, but also to display the transitions that bridge their careers both past and present.
