Showcasing photographs Tashiro took from 2006 up until 2008 mainly in the suburban area of Paris. In order to define "suburban Paris", he traveled back and forth between Paris (20 wards) and the border of the suburb, exploring the cultural boundaries seen in suburbs. At the same time, his work traces back his own search for ways to communicate with his subject matters found in France as an outsider from Asia. While his work seems to be an assemblage of incoherent images of peoples from all over the world having moved to the area by transcending social and historical boundaries as well as of their new land, such images help viewers understand how unrealistic the concept of modern/ contemporary democracy can be, leading them to contemplate on its future possibilities.
