Takehito Fujii "Brazenness Extended"
This event has ended.
At Striped House Gallery
Media: Sculpture
This exhibition is the sequel to Fujii's 2005 "Sculpture Sentence Brazenness Plus" exhibition, which won the grand prize at the 8th Taro Okamoto Memorial Contemporary Art Prize.
Although Fujii currently works using steel forging techniques, he produces work by concurrently pursuing two lineages that take entirely different - perhaps even diametrically opposite - directions, "Sculpture Sentence Brazenness" and "New Personification". While avoiding the stoic one-dimensionality of an extreme logic, Fujii is an artist who investigates the sense of destiny or fate that joins steel and man, the contradictions that are borne out of these multiple lineages, and the multifaceted answers to these questions.
Around 12 new works of sculpture are on display.
